That’s really where Refined by M began.

Founded by Brit Maddock, a Paediatric Emergency Registered Nurse with an eye for detail and a lifelong love for anything gold and glowy, Refined by M was born from a need for something slower, softer, and more creative than the chaos of emergency shift work.

What started with a simple soldering class and my first handmade ring quickly became,

“Wait… where did you buy that from?”

And now, here we are. A one woman brand built between night shifts, iced lattes, and a passion that refused to stay a hobby.

Why gold-filled? Because I’m the girl who showers, swims, sleeps and lives in her jewellery.

Anything that turned green, snapped, or tarnished ended up in the bin and I was over it.

Every piece I make is crafted with intention using 14k and 18k gold-filled materials and Australian-sourced pearls, chosen for their durability, softness, and quiet luxury. Gold filled feels like solid gold without the solid-gold price tag. Tarnish resistant, long-lasting, and designed to move with you through every season of life.
